RSS is the salvation of the lazy.

RSS relieves authors of the pressure to constantly post - a behavior driven by marketing wonks under the assumption that constant posting creates "freshness", resulting in a more "sticky" site. IMHO, freeing authors from that pressure allows for better thought-out tomes....in other words, it's patience that makes for sticky reading - not volume.

I'm curious how many of my four regular readers are visiting my website directly versus using an RSS reader of some kind to read my posts. Speaking for myself, I can't think of a blog/site that I read regularly that I don't access via an RSS reader. Garrett touched on this recently when he noticed (as I have) a pretty steady decline in "traditional" web traffic, with both of us concluding it's the ascendancy of the RSS reader that's responsible for the shift in reading/viewing habits.

Which is kind of ironic, given how much of Google's (economic) success of late has been driven by AdSense- a business predicated on the viewing of web pages in a browser, not content in a "scraper" app....but I digress....

I'll leave the comments open on this post until the spammers show up - in the meantime, take a moment and let me know how you keep abreast of my sporadic posting.
